Tabstal i Syrien vokser:

13.05.2011 – 14:05 – Syria Update 1

Just after the Friday prayer ended protesters took the streets in Hama, Homs,Qameshli, Amouda, Daraa, Damascus, Al Rastan, Derbaseyeh, Edlib, Lattakia, Aleppo, DeirAlzor, Aleppo(country side), Qatna (suburb of Damascus) and Alkeswah (Damascus suburbs), and Raqqa.

Gun Fire!!! Despite the fact that the Government was promising that there will be no shooting on this Friday, we have confirmed reports that security forces did shoot in Daraa and Homs. However we don’t have any reports yet if people got injured.

After a brutal week which was filled with blood and massive arrest the Syrian took the streets and insist on demanding to lift the siege on all the cities and chant to topple the regime and for freedom as well the strategy the government is using to freak people out is NOT working we will never stop we will never turn back till this regime is down.

We will continue updating you.

13.05.2011 – 09:39 – Friday Protests

Dear Journalists,
Starting the 9th week of protests and expecting big protest Today Friday, May 13. 2011 we would like to provide you with  some background information ,what we expect today and a selection of English/Arabic Twitter Accounts / youtube Channels and pictures. For important urgent news, see Twitter recommendations below.and always check our facebook page http://on.fb.me/jLg5v3

If you have any question or request you can always contact us at syrianjas@gmail.com or malath.aumran@gmail.com

Background, Facts and Figures:
• Day of Protest: Today is the 63th day of demonstration in our beloved Syria.
• Death Toll: So far more than 682 people have been  killed by Security Forces and the army, more than 300 of them were killed in the last week.  However, this is the number of dead civilian who have been identified only.we didn't included the number of soldiers. We assume that the real number is much higher, since a lot of dead bodies could not be identified yet, and specially that we were not able to get the numbers of Daraa's and it's suburbs martyrs for the past few days.
• Arrest and Torture: Over the last weeks, more than 9500 people have been randomly arrested and tortured. In Daraa and in Banias, Prison- and Torture camps have been set up in the local Football stadium. There are several people who talked to the media and other who are willing to talk about what they faced while they were arrested.
• Under Siege: Three cities are still under siege by Military and security Forces: Daraa and it's suburbs in the south (under siege for 18 days), Duma near Damascus, Moadhamyah, Homs and Baniyas at the coast.
• New strategy by the government: For more than one week the Assad Regime is using mass arrests as a new strategy. Whole Cities or part of towns get surrounded by security forces, power  and phone lines get cut off, and secret police goes from house to house to arrest people. After being arrested, people get tortured and be released after some days, so that they can tell others about their horrible experiences. It is the same strategy Iran has used in the green revolution in 2009 to scare people and they think this way the protesters will stop demonstrating.

Expectations for Today:
• We are expecting protest in all major cities as well in a big number of smaller towns.
• However we do not expect big protest in towns that are still under siege.
• Since the beginning of our revolution we were protesting in a peaceful way and will keep it like that till the end.
• We will update you about each city as soon as we get any news.
